On the accuracy limits of plate theories for vibro-acoustic predictions

Several vibro-acoustic models for either single wall or multi-layer constructions are based on classical plate and first order shear deformation theories. The equivalent condensed employ the thin model to extract dynamic mechanical properties of system considering only flexural motions structure under investigation. Since these do not account compressional symmetric motion structure, both thick theories encounter limitations mid high frequency predictions depending structures considered. In this work, analytical expressions limit derived an elastic layer isotropic material from analyses wavenumbers admittances. Additionally, refined coincidence critical frequencies presented. Validation limits made by comparing transmission loss (TL) obtained with TL computed through theory elasticity a range thin/thick soft/stiff materials.
